It's simple to enter: just make a video. In 60 seconds or less, make a case for open video. Then upload it to anywhere (archive.org, YouTube, Vimeo, blip.tv, or hosted at your own site, to name a few) and give us the URL. You can make any case you like, in any form you like. Videos must be licensed CC-BY. Complete rules are here.

Every day, more and more people use video to express themselves. Millions of people are using the moving image to tell stories, to persuade, to reveal. Now more than ever, it's important that basic video tools are open and available to everyone. The ability to create, manipulate, and share video is a prerequisite to participating in new media dialogues. For more, see the Open Video Alliance.
Record it, animate it, stream it, send it! You have complete freedom in creating your 60 second case for open video. If you want to brush up on the issues, check out our open video issues. Here are some suggestions to get your creative juices flowing:
- Was your video or remix removed from YouTube for a supposed copyright violation?
- Have you ever tried to play a region-locked DVD, and realized in frustration that your DVD player doesn't really belong to you?
- Have you felt limited by the cost of technology or a lack of choice for video on the web, either in terms of quality or ease of use for your own website?
- What will video on the web look like, 25 years from now?
- Do you draw or animate? Do you produce or edit films? Do you write a blog or post videos? How does open video fit in?
- How important is it to defend the right to create and share culture and to borrow content from the public domain?
- What impact has sharing video on the web had on you and your friends? What changes does open video effect on education or online networking through video?
- If you’re more the hacker type, make something cool using open technologies and give us the pitch in 60 seconds or less.
- Maybe you can eloquently explain why open video is an important change from previous forms of media.
- Maybe you're an indie filmmaker with interesting experience to relate about your experiments in self-distribution.
- Maybe you have an illuminating story about open video in the developing world.
- Perhaps you have a vision of where we could be in five years as a result of open technologies and widespread video engagement.
